Quilter

An engineering-grade identity for an AI that automates circuit-board layout — a tessellating Q mark, a dusk-dark system lit by a single signal green, and an application kit that reads like hardware, not hype.

Context

Circuit-board layout is one of hardware's stubborn bottlenecks: expert work, done largely by hand, board by board. Quilter is building the AI that automates it — feed it your schematic and it generates the board design around it. Design. Generate. Automate.

The audience is electrical engineers, a crowd professionally allergic to hype. The brand couldn't lean on startup gloss; it had to read like an instrument — precise, technical, and obviously built by people who respect the discipline it serves.

Approach

I art-directed the brand at WarpCraft around the name itself — a quilt is many precise patches interlocking into one working whole, which is also a fair description of a circuit board.

Solution

The mark

Out in the world

The interlocking Q as a lit dimensional sign — the mark holds at architectural scale

The product, made tangible

Quilter's subject matter is its best imagery — boards, chips, traces. The system leans into it.

The kit

The dusk series across the physical brand — the tessellated pattern doing the identity work everywhere the wordmark isn't.

Outcome

A complete identity shipped: a 16-lockup logo family, the brandbook, and a dusk application system that runs from silicon renders to shipping containers to the deck itself — one mark, one signal color, tessellating across all of it.

Design. Generate. Automate.
